Viral footage from Bandar Rimbayu shopping center shows parents helping children use trash bin as toilet
SOCIAL media users across Malaysia have expressed dismay after footage emerged showing adults assisting young children in using a rubbish bin as a makeshift toilet at a Bandar Rimbayu shopping area.
The brief video clip, which has circulated widely on X (formerly Twitter), captures two separate incidents occurring near the entrance of a Jaya Grocer supermarket. In the footage, one adult can be observed positioning a young girl near the waste receptacle, while another woman subsequently helps a second child onto the bin itself, located adjacent to shopping cart storage.
The footage was shared by a social media user who claims to have witnessed the events firsthand while preparing for a morning shopping trip. According to their account, they were approaching the trolley area when they encountered the scene.
The poster expressed strong disapproval of the parents’ actions, noting that the experience significantly affected their plans for the day. They indicated that what should have been a routine grocery visit was cut short due to discomfort over what they had witnessed.
The post has generated substantial engagement online, accumulating thousands of interactions and being widely shared across the platform. Comment sections have filled with criticism from Malaysians questioning the appropriateness of the behavior in a public retail environment.
Many respondents have raised concerns about public hygiene standards and suggested that shopping center management should address the incident. Some commenters have also called for better restroom accessibility for families with young children.
Neither the shopping center management nor local authorities have issued any public statements regarding the incident at the time of publication.
The video’s caption included a reference to recent debates about pet-friendly policies at Malaysian malls, though the connection to the current incident remains unclear.
