11 youths arrested after violent brawl at Miri Waterfront

Police arrest 11 youths aged 16-25 following an armed brawl at Miri Waterfront that left one man injured; weapons seized.

MIRI: Police have arrested 11 youths in connection with an armed brawl at the Miri Waterfront early yesterday morning.

The suspects, aged between 16 and 25, were detained following a viral one-minute video of the fight on social media.

The altercation reportedly began after two men ‘shoulder-checked’ each other.

Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the incident occurred around 2.05 am and left a local man injured.

“The victim received treatment at the General Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition,” he said in a statement today.

Police seized various types of weapons as evidence in the case.

Investigations are being conducted under Section 324/148 of the Penal Code for using deadly weapons in a riot.
