Malaysian tourists stranded in southern Thailand floods as consulate issues travel warning and emergency contact for consular assistance.
SONGKHLA: The Malaysian Consulate in Songkhla has advised citizens to postpone travel to southern Thailand due to widespread flooding.
Malaysian Consul-General Ahmad Fahmi Ahmad Sarkawi said continuous heavy rain has caused flooding across most areas in the region.
“The Malaysian Consulate-General in Songkhla advises all Malaysians planning to travel or visit southern Thailand to temporarily postpone their plans due to severe weather, ongoing heavy rainfall, and floods affecting many areas,” he stated.
He urged Malaysians already in southern Thailand to monitor weather updates and follow local authority instructions for safety.

Meanwhile, Hatyai-Songkhla Hotel Association President Dr Sitthipong Sitthiprapha reported approximately 4,000 Malaysian tourists stranded in Songkhla hotels.
“Since last night, more than 4,000 Malaysian tourists have been stranded including those intending to return to Malaysia via Sadao, where the main road from Hatyai to Sadao is cut off by floods,” he explained.
Local authorities are providing food and boats to transport stranded tourists to safer locations.
The number of submerged Malaysian tourist vehicles remains unclear, but no casualties have been reported so far.
Continuous rain since Monday has flooded eight southern Thai provinces, displacing nearly 124,003 families to safer areas. – Bernama
