Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality from President Erdogan during his official visit to Turkey
ANKARA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the exceptionally warm, sincere and friendly hospitality accorded to him during his official visit to the republic.
In a statement, Anwar also prayed that Erdogan, Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan and their family would continue to be blessed with good health, strength and wisdom in leading the republic towards lasting peace, prosperity and justice, for the well-being of the people and the wider Muslim world.
Anwar said he and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, together with the Malaysian delegation, were also honoured to be hosted by Erdogan and Emine at an official dinner held in an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie at the Presidential Complex here.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, is on a three-day official visit to Turkiye at the invitation of Erdogan, which began last Tuesday, as part of efforts to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries.
Malaysia’s total trade with Turkiye from January to November 2025 reached RM21.2 billion (USD4.92 billion), with the republic remaining an important economic partner for Malaysia.
In 2024, Turkiye was Malaysia’s third-largest trading partner, largest export destination and fourth-largest source of imports among West Asian countries, with total trade valued at RM24.15 billion (USD5.28 billion).
