The body of a 15-year-old boy, suspected to have been attacked by a crocodile while bathing in a Sarawak river, has been recovered by family members.

KUCHING: The body of a 15-year-old boy, suspected to have been a victim of a crocodile attack, was found this afternoon along Sungai Sarawak.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre said the body was discovered by family members during a search and rescue operation at about 5.30 pm.

The boy had been bathing with his siblings while his mother washed clothes nearby.

He complained of pain in his leg before being believed to have been dragged away by a crocodile.

His grandfather, who was present, chased after the boy in a boat as he was being pulled away.

The victim disappeared from sight about 200 metres from the initial attack location.

The centre confirmed the body was found without its left and right arms.

It has been handed over to the police for further action.
