Civil Defence Force urges NGOs to insure volunteers for safety

APM calls on NGOs to provide insurance coverage for volunteers, highlighting risks during disaster relief and community assistance duties.

KOTA BHARU: The Civil Defence Force is urging all non-governmental organisations to provide insurance protection for their volunteers.

APM Chief Commissioner Datuk Aminnurahim Mohamed said volunteers under government agencies are protected through schemes such as the Social Security Organisation.

He stated that NGOs should likewise provide insurance coverage for their volunteers to ensure their safety and welfare while on duty.

Risk awareness and preparedness are essential so that volunteers can carry out their duties to assist the community safely.

Many volunteers are now aware of the importance of insurance protection because of the risks faced while helping disaster victims, such as during floods.

Aminnurahim expressed hope that all NGOs will prioritise the welfare and safety of their members through appropriate insurance plans.

He made these remarks after officiating the 2025 National Volunteer Assembly here today.

Aminnurahim said APM aims to ensure that every individual participating in volunteer programmes under registered agencies has adequate insurance protection.

This goal aligns with the growing involvement of Malaysians in welfare and humanitarian activities.

He welcomed individuals who are knowledgeable, experienced, and have a strong sense of service to join the volunteer corps.

However, he emphasised that volunteers must be aware and prepared to face any emergency during their duties. – Bernama

AWC posts steady Q1 revenue at RM97.6m, expects momentum to strengthen in coming quarters

AWC Bhd reported a 3.4% year-on-year increase in revenue to RM97.6 million for the first quarter of FY26, driven by stronger contributions from its engineering division. Net profit, however, eased to RM4.1 million due to slower project progress in the Middle East under the environment division. Despite the softer start, the group remains optimistic, backed by RM270 million in new contract wins for FY26 and a robust order book of RM528 million, positioning AWC for improved performance in the months ahead.
