Civil servants urged to boost skills and leadership for national progress

Dewan Rakyat Speaker advises civil servants to enhance capabilities, think innovatively, and lead by example to support sustainable national development.

KLANG: Civil servants must continuously enhance their capabilities and avoid complacency to perform their duties more effectively and contribute to sustainable national development.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul said current developments require civil servants to possess strong leadership values, especially when tackling emerging issues within the community.

“Each of them must also cooperate with senior officials, discuss so that whatever is planned must have short, medium, and long-term goals, and never stop planning,” he said.

Johari emphasised that civil servants must be dynamic and maintain a forward-moving spirit to avoid stagnation.

He made these remarks after attending the Malaysia MADANI Nationhood Course with the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) here today.

Johari added that civil servants must constantly equip themselves with knowledge and skills to think outside the box.

“They also need to be a role model for those below, for the communities they lead, because most of them work at the grassroots level,” he said.

He stated that they must demonstrate exemplary conduct for the community to follow.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said the course gathered 106 NADI personnel from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.

The programme aims to strengthen national literacy and civic understanding among the digital centre staff involved.

According to a statement, the NADI Malaysia MADANI Nationhood Course is planned to be implemented in phases.

Two more series are scheduled for next year, involving NADI personnel from other states.
