AGC rejects policeman’s bid to review murder charge in Nur Farah Kartini case

The AGC dismissed a policeman’s representation to review his murder charge for the death of UPSI graduate Nur Farah Kartini, setting a 2026 trial.

SHAH ALAM: The Attorney General’s Chambers has dismissed a representation by a policeman seeking a review of the murder charge against him for the death of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris graduate Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Maizatul Munirah Abdul Rahman informed High Court Judge Adlin Abdul Majid of the decision during a case mention for Lance Corporal Muhammad Alif Monjani.

She requested trial dates from the court, stating 20 witnesses would be called and the trial conducted by a Senior Deputy Public Prosecutor.

Defence lawyer Aida Jaafar Mad Ariff then informed the court her client intends to submit a second representation to seek a review of the charge.

The court fixed 14 trial days between November 16 and December 8, 2026, with case management set for April 7.

Muhammad Alif is charged with murdering 26-year-old Nur Farah Kartini at SKC Farm, Kledang, between July 10 and July 15, 2024.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death penalty or 40 years’ imprisonment and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.

Nur Farah Kartini was reported missing on July 10, 2024, after delivering a rental car to a customer.

Her body was found by police at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, five days later. – Bernama
