A factory operator was sentenced to one month in jail for threatening to pour acid on and kill his 72-year-old mother during an argument
KUALA LUMPUR: A factory operator was sentenced to one month in jail by the Magistrate’s Court after pleading guilty to threatening to kill his mother.
Magistrate Farah Nabihah Muhamad Dan ordered the sentence for Abdul Razak Manaf, 34, to be served from his date of arrest on December 22.
The man threatened his 72-year-old mother by saying “I will throw acid and kill you” at a house in Cheras.
The charge was framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
The incident occurred during an argument after the victim demanded the return of her mobile phone, which the accused had taken.
Dissatisfied, Abdul Razak allegedly threatened to throw acid on her and kill her.
During mitigation, the single father of five children aged between three and 11 said this was his first offence and that he had apologised to the victim.
Deputy public prosecutor Amritpreet Kaur Randhawa appeared for the prosecution.
