A former London Biscuits director faces 11 charges for allegedly causing over RM7 million in wrongful loss to a company, with bail set at RM80,000.
KUALA LUMPUR: Former London Biscuits Berhad executive director Datuk Seri Liew Yew Chung pleaded not guilty to 11 charges of causing wrongful loss exceeding RM7 million.
The 56-year-old, who was a director of listed firm Khee San Berhad at the time, is accused of intentionally causing loss to Khee San Food Industries Sdn Bhd.
He allegedly cancelled 25 debt agreements between the company and 11 individuals totalling RM7,119,465 in 2019.
The charges fall under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ jail and a RM10 million fine.
Securities Commission prosecutor Keith Loo requested a RM3 million bail, citing the offence’s seriousness for investor confidence.
Defence lawyer Shankar Govinth requested lower bail, noting his client’s previous RM300,000 bail in a separate 2025 case.
He stated Liew attended court in a wheelchair and neck brace following three surgeries last year.
The lawyer added his client is also receiving treatment for depression and nerve problems.
Sessions Court judges Azrul Darus and Norma Ismail each set bail at RM80,000 with one surety.
They imposed additional prosecution conditions, including reporting to the SC office every two months.
The case is set for remention on March 12.
Liew was previously charged in May 2025 with 13 counts of submitting false financial statements to Bursa Malaysia.
He also faced charges for falsifying the listed company’s records at that time.
