A Selangor FC supporter faces court for allegedly insulting a police officer, while eight others are fined for possessing flares ahead of a football match.
KUALA TERENGGANU: A Selangor FC supporter pleaded not guilty to insulting a police officer in the Magistrate’s Court today.
Alfadli Awaludin, 44, is accused of making an insulting remark to an inspector at Dataran Jambatan Angkat around 7 pm last Sunday.
The alleged remark was “Takkan mahu bakar suar di dalam hutan, nak suruh beruk tengok ke”.
He was charged under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, which provides for a fine of up to RM100.
Magistrate Noor Mazrinie Mahmood granted bail of RM1,000 with one surety and set the next mention for March 5.
Separately, eight other Selangor FC supporters were fined between RM2,800 and RM3,200 today.
They pleaded guilty before magistrates to charges of possessing flares without a valid licence last Sunday.
Magistrate Noor Mazrinie imposed a fine of RM3,000 each on three individuals, in default a five-month imprisonment.
The remaining five were fined between RM2,800 and RM3,200, which they have since paid.
All eight were charged under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957.
The charges stem from the detention of more than 20 Selangor FC supporters on Sunday ahead of a Super League match.
They were caught creating a disturbance at Jambatan Angkat around 6.30 pm.
The supporters were detained for several offences, including drug possession and obstructing officials.
