IPOH: The Customs Field Operations Combat Team (COBRA) has recorded seizures exceeding RM312.4 million in smuggled goods as of October this year.

Customs director-general Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin revealed the breakdown included RM31.5 million in drug cases and RM267.1 million in cigarettes and liquor.

She said over RM13.8 million worth of various other smuggled goods were also confiscated during operations.

“This achievement reinforces COBRA’s role as a high-impact tactical asset in combating smuggling and curbing national revenue leakage,” she stated.

The event featured a combat capability demonstration including bodyguarding and tactical shooting exercises.

Twenty-two customs officers received their COBRA berets after completing 60 days of intensive training.

They were selected from 175 candidates nationwide through a rigorous screening process.

Training covered physical and mental endurance along with firearms skills and operational simulations.

Anis Rizana expressed gratitude to police units for their cooperation in developing the team.

“The synergy between JKDM and the police represents the strength of national security through strategic collaboration,” she added.

She urged all COBRA members to maintain discipline and professionalism in protecting national interests. – Bernama
