Police in Kota Kinabalu detain four men for allegedly obstructing officers investigating a child abuse case involving madrasah students.
KOTA KINABALU: Police have arrested four men for allegedly obstructing an investigation into a child abuse case.
The men, aged between 30 and 50, were detained late yesterday afternoon in Telipok.
Kota Kinabalu district police chief ACP Kasim Muda said the arrests followed a report about an abuse incident at a business premises on December 14.
The report involved a group of madrasah students and a man.
While police were arresting the suspect named in the report, several individuals blocked the police vehicle.
“The men hurled insults, tried to open the vehicle’s doors, kicked and hit the vehicle till they obstructed the duties of the police,” Kasim said in a statement today.
A metal rod was seized from the group during the arrests at 6.45 pm.
The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their duty.
