GOF Southeast Brigade recorded 2,210 cases, arrested 2,085 individuals, and seized RM826.7 million in contraband from January to November
KUANTAN: The General Operations Force Southeast Brigade has recorded 2,210 cases with seizures valued at RM826.7 million from January to November 15.
Commander SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain said the force arrested 2,085 individuals during this period across Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.
He revealed the seizure value represented an 800% increase compared to the previous year.
“Kelantan recorded the highest seizure amount among the three states,” Ahmad Radzi told a press conference after a handover-of-duty ceremony at the GOF Galing Camp.
He noted most arrests involved locals, while seizures included various contraband and subsidised goods monitored by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
The GOF will intensify operations against cross-border crime, including dismantling illegal jetties along Sungai Golok in Kelantan.
“We will strengthen control along the Malaysia-Thailand border through coordinated operations with state government and enforcement agencies,” he said.
These efforts target smuggling, drug trafficking, and illegal entry of foreigners across the 44.8-kilometre border from Sungai Golok to Perak.
Meanwhile, the brigade has prepared 95 officers and personnel for flood relief during the ongoing Northeast Monsoon.
Ahmad Radzi confirmed the deployment of 24 boats, 39 lorries, 32 four-wheel-drive vehicles, and eight vans for rescue operations. – Bernama
