Johor police bust drug syndicate with RM11.4 million seizure

Johor police seized 115kg of drugs worth RM11.4 million from a house in Taman Bukit Indah and arrested a 55-year-old storekeeper.
JOHOR BAHRU: Johor police have dismantled a major drug syndicate following a raid that netted RM11.4 million worth of narcotics.

The operation targeted a storage facility concealed within a gated terrace house in Taman Bukit Indah near Iskandar Puteri on November 3.

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad confirmed the seizure of 115.09kg of various drugs and the arrest of a 55-year-old local man.

“The syndicate rented a guarded residential property to hide their illegal activities,” he told reporters at the Johor police headquarters.

Investigations revealed the location was also used to process powdered drugs into liquid form.

The confiscated narcotics included 25.24kg of ecstasy pills, 23.10kg of syabu, and 22.43kg of MDMA powder.

Also seized were 13.40kg of ketamine, 11.51kg of ecstasy, and 19.41kg of Erimin 5 pills.

Authorities additionally confiscated drug processing equipment, a Toyota Vios, and RM10,000 in cash.

Police are actively pursuing the syndicate’s mastermind and other members believed operational since July.

“We believe they sourced drug supplies domestically before distributing to local markets,” Ab Rahaman added.

The arrested storekeeper has previous criminal, drug, and traffic offences on his record.

He has been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama
