An hour for a 10-minute drive? Residents say 16 Sierra traffic is ‘hell’

Commuters in 16 Sierra face daily jams turning 10-minute drives into hour-long gridlocks, with residents demanding urgent road fixes.

COMMUTERS in 16 Sierra are stuck in gridlock nightmares—what’s supposed to be a 10-minute drive is now taking almost an hour.

Residents say daily jams are burning fuel, time, and patience, and they’re calling for urgent action from local authorities.

User allansuman, who posted about the mess on Threads, blasted: “Almost a 1-hour jam just between 16 Sierra and Taman Equine—and this is supposed to be a short 10-minute drive.

“Every day we’re stuck in traffic, wasting time, fuel, and energy. The growth in this area is obvious, but the roads clearly can’t cope anymore.

“16 Sierra residents urgently need proper traffic management and upgrades. Hopefully, the MP here is aware of this and can solve the problem, @yeobeeyin”

Frustration is boiling over. “Day in, day out—it’s the same thing. The only option is to build a flyover there,” says user hakeemharis.

Another user, 1038ta, added: “This is a very old issue—since 2006. Nothing has been done. The junction here is the cause of the traffic jam, especially the Giant traffic light, where the red light duration is too short.”

Residents say the jam isn’t just inconvenient—it’s life-altering. ____amyyrsn wrote: “I’ve lived here for over a decade… More houses are being built, more residents moving in. Especially if you work half-day on Saturdays… getting stuck here is enough to make you cry.”

Even practical solutions seem elusive. mh1426 explained: “People are using the main road as a shortcut… saving RM1.30 but losing time and fuel. The real issue is still poor traffic planning.”

Some blame the traffic light itself. azwan959 summed it up: “The problem is really just the Giant traffic light, bro (speaking as someone who’s lived in Putra Permai since 2006).” And jehanbent warned: “Wait until Ramadan—it’s going to get worse.”

The outrage isn’t limited to car drivers. Grab rider ikmaldaniel329 said: “Even I… get a headache dealing with the traffic here—imagine how stressed car drivers must be.”

Residents are tagging MPs and ADUNs, hoping for a miracle solution. But skepticism runs deep: 1038ta added, “Even if the junction is widened, it’ll still be jammed because traffic from Puchong and Cyberjaya also uses this road.”

The debate continues online: is the solution a flyover or better traffic lights — or is 16 Sierra destined to be stuck in congestion forever?

Some argue it can never be solved, while others insist a redesign could fix everything.
