JOHOR BAHRU: Police issued 247 summonses and seized 117 motorcycles in a major integrated traffic operation conducted in the city.

The operation, focusing on Jalan Ismail Sultan, was a joint effort by police, the Department of Environment (DOE), and the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB).

Johor Bahru South district police chief ACP Raub Selamat said the action targeted street gang activities and dangerously modified vehicles.

“A total of 215 individuals and 203 vehicles were inspected,” he stated.

Offences included driving without a licence, illegal modifications, and non-compliant registration plates.

Two individuals were arrested on suspicion of using a stolen motorcycle and riding dangerously.

Six other individuals tested positive for drugs including methamphetamine and ketamine.

Another person was detained for a separate offence under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

The DOE issued 21 compounds and 25 inspection notices for environmental violations.
