MACC opens new investigation into former minister over land deal

MACC chief confirms new probe into ex-minister over alleged embezzlement involving high-value government land transfer to a developer.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has opened a new investigation into a former minister who served before the COVID-19 era.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the investigation when contacted by Bernama.

“Yes, I confirm that the investigation is underway and several important individuals will be called to assist in the investigation,” he said.

It is understood the former leader has previously faced court charges on several corruption-related counts.

Media reports allege the individual is under investigation for embezzlement involving a ministry.

The alleged offence concerns the transfer of a high-value piece of government land to a prominent property developer.
