Two dead, two critically injured in three-car federal highway crash

Two killed and two critically injured after a three-vehicle collision on the Federal Highway near Shah Alam, with police investigating the cause.

SHAH ALAM: Two people were killed and two others critically injured in a three-vehicle collision on the Federal Highway yesterday.

The crash occurred at about 4.20 am on Kilometre 11.9 of the highway heading towards Klang.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Ramsay Embol said a Honda HR-V, driven by a man in his 50s with a female passenger, rear-ended a Proton Suprima in the rightmost lane.

All three victims had reportedly exited their vehicles and were standing between them when the Proton Suprima was struck by a Mercedes.

“The Mercedes driver could not avoid the collision,” said Ramsay.

The Honda HR-V driver and passenger were killed at the scene.

The Proton Suprima driver, a woman in her 20s, and the Mercedes driver were critically injured and rushed to Hospital Shah Alam.

Investigations confirmed the cause of death for the two victims was head and body injuries due to a motor vehicle accident.

Police also confirmed the two deceased were friends, not spouses.

Blood and urine samples have been taken from the Mercedes driver for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Witnesses are urged to contact Inspector Muhammad Najib Abdul Rahman at 019-7757354 from the Shah Alam district police headquarters.

Ramsay advised motorists to stop in safe locations if involved in accidents.

He also urged them to avoid standing on the road, especially in the right lane.
