MOHE pledges full cooperation with police over student arrests

Higher Education Ministry will not shield any student found to have broken the law, says minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) will extend its full cooperation to the police in an investigation involving university students allegedly engaged in immoral activities.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir said his ministry would not shield any individual found to have violated the law.

“For us, any matter that falls under the jurisdiction of the authorities will be left entirely to them,” he told reporters at the Putrajaya Festival of Ideas 2025.

He stressed that any criminal offence occurring outside campus premises remains under the purview of law enforcement agencies.

Zambry said MOHE consistently prioritises student discipline, safety and integrity.

The minister added that MOHE will continue to monitor developments closely to ensure a smooth and transparent investigation process.

Police previously reported the arrest of 13 men, including two foreign nationals, on suspicion of involvement in unnatural sexual activities.

Of those detained, 11 were customers of the premises, while the remaining two were an employee and the owner.

The case is being investigated under Section 377B of the Penal Code for carnal intercourse against the order of nature.

Investigators are also probing the case under Section 292 for the possession of obscene material found on a mobile phone.

All individuals arrested have been remanded until Dec 5 to facilitate further investigations.
