Police recover Rambo knife used in Alor Setar stabbing

Kedah police recover a survival knife used in a stabbing linked to jealousy, as the victim recovers from surgery.

ALOR SETAR: Police have recovered a survival-style combat knife believed to have been used by a 32-year-old suspect in the stabbing of a woman in the neck inside a car in front of a restaurant along Jalan Titi Gajah near here on Sunday, in a case linked to jealousy and unrequited love.

Kedah police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah said the sharp weapon, commonly referred to locally as a “Rambo knife”, was found last Monday about 200 metres from the scene in bushes near a paddy field area.

“We found the Rambo knife based on directions given by the suspect…this supports our investigation and the victim did not sustain any other injuries,” he told reporters after attending the 2026 Drug Case Item Disposal Programme at the Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters here today.

He said suspect’s remand is still ongoing, while the condition of the 35-year-old victim was also improving after undergoing surgery yesterday.

Last Monday, police said jealousy and unrequited love were believed to be the motives behind the attack involving the suspect, a widower, and the victim, a single mother, who had known each other for more than a year through their work in the real estate sector.

Earlier media reports stated that the woman suffered serious neck injuries after she was allegedly stabbed by a man known to her in front of a restaurant along Jalan Titi Gajah near here at 9.19 pm last Sunday.

The suspect was arrested while hiding at a house of worship in Taman Uda, about six kilometres from the scene, shortly after the incident.

Meanwhile, Adzli said the police would dispose of prohibited substances at the Bukit Pelanduk Solid Waste Disposal Centre in Negeri Sembilan, involving various types of drugs and prohibited substances worth an estimated RM12.39 million that had completed legal proceedings and received court disposal orders.

“This disposal programme is part of the Royal Malaysian Police’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that all drug-related case items are managed and disposed of according to safety procedures and legal provisions,” he said.

He added that among the largest seizures were 212.35 kilogrammes of heroin and monoacetylmorphines estimated to be worth RM7.43 million, and 137.4 kg of syabu estimated at RM4.95 million, involving 4,401 investigation papers from 2011 to 2025.
