Police in Besut arrested seven motorcyclists for dangerous road stunts, seizing seven bikes and issuing a warning to parents.
JERTIH: Seven men aged between 17 and 32 were detained in an overnight police operation targeting dangerous street riding.
The arrests were made under Op Samseng Jalanan along Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu from 1 am to 4.30 am yesterday.
Besut acting police chief DSP Md Sani Md Saleh said the motorcyclists were carrying out extreme and reckless actions on public roads.
“Their actions not only endanger their own lives, but also threaten the safety of other road users,” he said in a statement today.
The operation focused on areas in Kampung Padang Luas, Padang Landak and Lak Lok.
All suspects, some of whom work as mechanics and labourers, have been remanded for three days to assist investigations.
A team from the Besut Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department seized seven motorcycles under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Md Sani said police will continue similar operations to prevent a recurrence of such dangerous activities.
He also advised parents to monitor their children’s movements to prevent them from being influenced by street thugs.
