A married couple in Sibu faces drug trafficking and possession charges involving methamphetamine, ketamine, and nimetazepam.
SIBU: A married couple has pleaded not guilty in the High Court to three charges of drug trafficking and possession dating back to June this year.
Tie Teck Hock, 53, and his wife Lee Chee Fei, 45, were jointly accused of trafficking 4,037.8 grammes of methamphetamine discovered in a house storeroom on Lorong Permai Jaya 9D1B1 around 10.45 pm on June 12.
They face charges under Section 39 billion(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries severe penalties under Section 39 billion(2) when read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
The couple also faces two additional joint charges for possessing 1,422.2 grammes of ketamine and 64.4 grammes of nimetazepam at the same location and time.
These possession charges were framed under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and are punishable under Section 12(3) when read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
Separately, Tie faces an individual charge for trafficking 700.9 grammes of methamphetamine near New Hee’s Food Corner on Jalan Pedada around 10 pm on the same day.
This individual trafficking charge falls under Section 39 billion(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and is punishable under Section 39 billion(2) of the same Act.
Judge Wong Tung Siong has scheduled the trial to run from September 21 to 25 next year and ordered both accused to remain in remand until the proceedings begin.
The court also set January 7, 2026 for pre-trial case management to handle procedural matters before the main trial.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mark Kenneth Netto represented the prosecution in the case against the couple.
