Terengganu police mobilise 1,327 personnel for flood operations

Terengganu police deploy 1,327 personnel with frozen leave to assist flood victims during the Northeast Monsoon, warning against treating floods as ‘water festival’.

CHUKAI: Terengganu Police have mobilised 1,327 personnel and officers to assist in flood operations throughout the Northeast Monsoon period.

Deputy Police Chief ACP Suffian Sulaiman said the deployment includes 130 officers, 1,013 personnel, and 64 civil servants.

An additional 120 members from the Federal Reserve Unit, General Operations Force, and Marine Police Force are also involved in flood disaster operations.

“This step was taken to ensure the smooth running of operations to assist flood-affected victims throughout Terengganu,” he told reporters after visiting Kemaman District Police Headquarters.

Suffian confirmed that leave for all police personnel and officers has been frozen throughout the Northeast Monsoon, except for emergency cases.

He advised residents in flood-prone areas to immediately evacuate to temporary evacuation centers when instructed by authorities.

“The public is reminded not to treat the flood as a ‘water festival’ by bringing family members to wade through the floodwaters to prevent unwanted incidents,” he added.
