An undergraduate student was arrested in Jeli after a police chase for obstructing officers and driving recklessly during a routine patrol check.
KOTA BHARU: An undergraduate student was arrested for obstructing police and driving recklessly during a routine patrol check in Jeli on Monday (December 1) afternoon.
Jeli district police chief Supt Kamarulzaman Harun said the incident occurred at 3.30 pm when officers spotted a suspicious Perodua Myvi by the roadside in Kampung Sungai Rual.
The vehicle sped off and refused to cooperate when the patrol unit indicated it should stop for a check.

Police gave chase as the suspect drove recklessly before finally being stopped at Kampung Rabbana, Jeli.
“The driver then tried to escape and refused to cooperate, leading to a scuffle before he was arrested,” said Kamarulzaman in a statement.
Inspections of the car revealed a teenage female student was also inside the vehicle.
Preliminary investigations found both individuals, who have no prior criminal records, panicked at the sight of the police.
The case is being investigated under Section 186 and 279 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant and reckless driving.
A remand application for the male driver will be made to assist with the investigation. – Bernama
