Police confirm two Ayah Pin sect followers among 13 detained outside Kelantan palace, with five testing positive for drugs in ongoing investigation
MACHANG: Police have confirmed that two followers of the Ayah Pin deviant sect were among 13 individuals detained after gathering outside Istana Negeri in Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the two individuals are in their 40s.
Police conducted urine tests on the detainees, with five testing positive for drugs.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that they intended to hand over old items such as machetes, swords, and spears to Sultan Muhammad VI,” he told reporters at Dewan Profesional, Universiti Teknologi MARA Machang campus.
Mohd Yusoff added that the roles of several other individuals, including Orang Asli participants, are still under investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 143 of the Penal Code and Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
A woman and three Orang Asli were among the 13 individuals, aged between 26 and 67, detained in the illegal gathering.
All suspects have been remanded for four days to assist with the ongoing investigation. – Bernama
