DBKL to sign urban pact with Addis Ababa during PM’s Africa visit

DBKL will sign a cooperation agreement with Addis Ababa during Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to Ethiopia, focusing on urban management and climate resilience.

PUTRAJAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will sign a cooperation agreement with Addis Ababa City Hall during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to Ethiopia beginning today.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said an exchange of documents would open cooperation in urban management, sustainable development and climate resilience.

“It is hoped that all the affairs of the Malaysian delegation are facilitated to bring positive results and open up new opportunities that are beneficial to all parties,” she said in a Facebook post.

Dr Zaliha, who is accompanying the Prime Minister on his Africa visit, said Malaysia expects to expand trade, investment and diplomatic cooperation with Ethiopia, South Africa and Kenya.

Ethiopia is the first stop on Anwar’s African tour before he travels to Johannesburg for the G20 Leaders’ Summit from November 20 to 23.

He will then continue to Nairobi, Kenya from November 23 to 24 before returning to Malaysia.
