The Ministry of Higher Education names Dr Shamsuri Abdullah as the new JPPKK director-general, replacing Datuk Mohd Zahari Ismail who retired last month.
PUTRAJAYA: Dr Shamsuri Abdullah has been appointed as the new Director-General of the Department of Polytechnic Education and Community Colleges (JPPKK), effective immediately.
The Ministry of Higher Education announced his appointment today, replacing Datuk Mohd Zahari Ismail who retired on October 1.
Shamsuri previously served as Deputy Director-General (Planning) of JPPKK before this promotion.
The 57-year-old holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Economics from Hull University in the United Kingdom.
He also earned a Master’s degree in Information Technology from Universiti Utara Malaysia and a Doctor of Philosophy in Business and Entrepreneurship Education from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
Before his appointment as JPPKK Director-General, he led Politeknik Ungku Omar as its Director.
The ministry expressed confidence that Shamsuri will continue to drive excellence in polytechnics and community colleges.
These institutions serve as leading centres for the nation’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The ministry also extended its appreciation to Mohd Zahari for his service and contributions in leading JPPKK since November 16, 2022. – Bernama
