Flood evacuees decline in most states, Pahang sees slight increase

Flood situation improves across Malaysia with evacuee numbers dropping in seven states, though Pahang records slight rise to 610 people this morning

KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation across eight Peninsular Malaysia states shows continued improvement with declining evacuee numbers, except for Pahang which recorded a slight increase as of 8am today.

Pahang’s evacuee count rose to 610 people from 206 families, up from 585 people from 202 families the previous night.

Temerloh remains the worst-affected district in Pahang with 223 people from 77 families housed across four temporary relief centres.

Other affected Pahang districts include Lipis, Bera, Jerantut and Kuantan.

Three rivers in Pahang remain above danger levels according to the PublicInfoBanjir website.

Sungai Pahang at Sungai Triang recorded 35.12 metres, while the Waterfront station in Bera measured 28.76 metres.

Sungai Pahang at Lubuk Paku in Pekan registered 19.12 metres, all above their respective danger thresholds.

Terengganu saw evacuees decrease to 1,752 people from 552 families, down from 2,018 people from 650 families overnight.

Fifty relief centres remain operational across seven Terengganu districts including Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus and Setiu.

Selangor’s evacuee numbers dropped to 2,707 people from 752 families across 30 relief centres.

The affected districts in Selangor include Kuala Selangor, Sepang, Kuala Langat and Sabak Bernam.

Negeri Sembilan reported 79 evacuees from 44 families in two Port Dickson relief centres, down from 89 people overnight.

Perak continues to show improvement with evacuees decreasing to 4,766 people from 1,447 families.

Thirty relief centres remain open across five districts in Perak state.

Kedah’s evacuee numbers fell to 264 people from 83 families, housed at SK Padang Pekan and SK Tunjang relief centres.

Perlis recorded 2,523 evacuees across 12 relief centres in Padang Besar, Kangar and Arau districts.

Kelantan’s Pasir Mas remains the only affected district with 894 evacuees from 305 families in four relief centres.

Most major rivers in Kelantan show normal or falling water levels except Sungai Pergau in Kampung Lawar.

Sungai Pergau remains at the dangerous level of 99.93 metres according to official monitoring. – Bernama
