The Ministry of Transport will hold the FLYSiswa Carnival 2026 at UPM on Jan 13 to promote RM400 flight ticket subsidies for eligible students.
PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Transport will organise the FLYSiswa Carnival 2026 at Dewan Besar, Pusat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), on Jan 13.
The event will run from 9 am to 4 pm as a platform to publicise the FLYSiswa student flight subsidy initiative.
It targets students from public universities, polytechnics, community colleges, matriculation programmes and teacher training institutes.
“The FLYSiswa initiative was introduced to ease the financial burden of students travelling home, particularly on domestic routes,” the ministry said.
Eligible students receive a digital voucher worth RM400 as shell credit for economy-class tickets.
The credit can be used for one-way or return flights with Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, Firefly and MASwings.
FLYSiswa 2026 will be implemented in three distinct phases throughout the year.
Phase one, starting Jan 1, 2026, covers existing and new students registered up to Sept 30, 2025.
Phase two begins on March 1, 2026, for students newly registered between Oct 1 and Dec 31, 2025.
Phase three starts July 1, 2026, for students registered between Jan 1 and March 31, 2026.
The carnival will feature information counters and briefing sessions for students.
This allows students to get accurate details directly from the relevant parties.
Since 2023, the initiative has benefited 119,806 students, with claims increasing yearly.
The MOT invites all students to attend the carnival to understand the initiative fully.
