“The monitoring measures are important to prevent Muslims from being misled by unsound beliefs,” he said. He added this is especially crucial as Muslims focus on strengthening religious practices during Ramadan.

Zulkifli urged the public to refer to authorities or knowledgeable individuals if they encountered any doubtful matters. He said the community also plays an important role by channelling information or reports to authorities regarding suspicious activities.

“I also call on Muslims to make Ramadan a platform to strengthen worship,” he said. He encouraged increasing charitable deeds and remaining anchored to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah.

Earlier, Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said eight deviant movements were still detected. He clarified they are inactive and under close monitoring by the Johor State Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ).
