KPKT allocates RM3 million for six new MADANI parks in Penang

Six MADANI Recreational Parks will be built in Penang with a RM3 million federal allocation, each costing RM500,000, to enhance community well-being.

GEORGE TOWN: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government has allocated RM3 million for the construction of six MADANI Recreational Parks in Penang this year.

Minister Nga Kor Ming announced the funding, describing it as a federal gesture of appreciation coinciding with the Thaipusam celebration.

Three parks will be developed on Penang Island, with the remaining three located in Seberang Perai.

“The construction cost is estimated at RM500,000 for each park, and the projects are expected to be completed by the end of this year,” he said.

Nga stated the initiative aims to bring recreational facilities closer to the people and promote healthier, more inclusive communities.

He revealed the national TRM initiative has consistently exceeded its construction targets since its 2024 launch.

The ministry surpassed its first-year target of 100 parks by completing 109, and exceeded the same target last year with 107 parks completed.

“In just 24 months, a total of 216 MADANI Recreational Parks have been completed nationwide,” Nga added.
