KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) recorded 82,896 ticket sales within 24 hours after bookings opened for travel between January 1 and April 30 next year.
KTMB chief technical officer Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin said the overwhelming demand reflects high public confidence in trains as a preferred travel mode.
“The extraordinary response within just 24 hours proves that trains remain the preferred choice among the public,” he said in a statement.
He noted that while unsuccessful transactions were minimal, KTMB remains committed to improving its system for a smoother ticket-purchasing experience.
Only 79 transactions were reported as unsuccessful and are being processed for refunds.
Refunds are expected to be completed within 14 days according to respective bank procedures.
KTMB also expressed appreciation to the government through the Ministry of Transport for its commitment to gradually adding new train sets.
