MACC detains woman for false RM450,000 food supply claim

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a food company owner suspected of submitting a false claim worth 450,000 ringgit for a food supply contract.

The female suspect in her 50s was detained when she arrived to give her statement at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya on Monday evening.

She is believed to have committed the offence in 2018 by submitting the claim to a government agency through a foundation in the capital.

Initial investigations revealed that several participants named in the claim denied involvement in the skills training programme.

Investigators also confirmed that the food supplies listed in the claim document were never delivered.

A Putrajaya magistrate granted the MACC a three-day remand order for the suspect starting from Monday.

MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Zainul Darus confirmed the arrest when contacted.

He stated the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009. – Bernama
