Madani government pledges stable supply of basic goods in Sabah, Sarawak

The Madani government is committed to ensuring sufficient supplies of essential goods in Sabah and Sarawak, with measures to stabilise fuel prices and prevent panic buying

KOTA KINABALU: The Madani Government is taking steps to ensure the basic needs of the people, particularly in Sabah and Sarawak, are met amidst current economic challenges.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Seri Mustapha Sakmud said the measures include maintaining fuel prices and ensuring stable supplies of essential goods.

“So, we hope it will get better, and we will not feel the effects of the (West Asia) war crisis,” he said.

He added that the government is trying to ensure basic needs are sufficient so the people are not burdened by sudden cost increases.

Mustapha, who is also the Sepanggar MP, advised the public against panic buying, stating that supplies of basic items, including rice, remain adequate.

“In terms of supply, we are actually sufficient. So, we hope the public won’t panic… the situation is still under control,” he said.

He urged the public to plan their spending wisely and adopt a thrifty approach during the current period.

Mustapha was speaking after attending a ‘Raya Shirt Purchase Donation Programme for Asnaf Students’ organised by his parliamentary office.

He said 50 pupils from two schools in Karambunai were selected for this year’s programme, which is in its third year.

Participants are selected by school authorities on a rotational basis, with priority given to B40 group students, orphans, and those from underprivileged families.
