Make mosques centres of unity, not exclusive domains

Sultan of Pahang calls for mosques to be vibrant community hubs, warning against exclusivity and urging transparent management for unity.

KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang has called on Muslims to make mosques vibrant centres of community life and not the exclusive domain of any single group.

Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah said a mosque is the heart of the ummah, not merely an architectural landmark.

He urged the community to enliven mosques with consistent prayers, knowledge-sharing, and charitable activities.

“Let us not allow the mosque to stand magnificent in appearance, yet empty of spiritual substance and the warmth of fellowship,” he said.

His Royal Highness cautioned that allowing mosques to become exclusive could alienate sections of the community.

He made these remarks in conjunction with the opening of the Kampung Teluk Gading Mosque in Rompin.

The Sultan emphasised the need for management conducted with trust, transparency and integrity.

“Ensure mosque management is carried out with trust, transparency and integrity, so that it truly serves as a pillar of wellbeing, unity and harmony for the entire ummah,” he added.
