Malaysia launches JAGO mobile units for inclusive government communication

Communications Ministry introduces JAGO mobile vehicles with LED screens and stages to deliver interactive government information programmes nationwide.

CYBERJAYA: The Communications Ministry has launched a new fleet of mobile units designed to make government information programmes more inclusive and strategic.

Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil introduced the Multi-Functional Vehicle JAPEN Arena Penggerak Komuniti, or JAGO, at the Information Department (JAPEN) today.

The vehicle is equipped with LED screens, a public address system, cameras, multimedia gear, an extendable stage, and a discussion space.

Fahmi said the unit enables more dynamic and interactive public engagement compared to older methods.

“The JAGO unit is vital for us at the Communications Ministry to engage directly with the public,” he told reporters.

He explained that the previous approach, the Info On Wheels unit, was outdated.

“But I believe JAGO will allow us to share information more interactively and creatively and it’s multifunctional,” Fahmi added.

Four JAGO units are currently operational, with plans to deploy four more within this year.

A total of 16 such vehicles are scheduled to be rolled out nationwide by 2028 under the 12th Malaysia Plan.

The government has allocated RM8.8 million for this initiative to enhance grassroots communication.

Fahmi earlier addressed over 500 JAPEN staff from across the country on strengthening government communications.
