Malaysia’s embassy in Seoul hosted Festival Malaysia, attracting 7,000 visitors with cuisine, performances, and tourism promotions for Visit Malaysia 2026.

SEOUL: Malaysia’s embassy organised Festival Malaysia last Saturday to showcase the country’s diverse offerings and rich cultural heritage to the Korean market.

The event promoted upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign attractions to approximately 7,000 visitors at Dongdaemun Design Plaza.

Attendees experienced Malaysian hospitality through cuisine, cultural performances, traditional games, and local products.

Seventeen stakeholders participated including Korean companies, Malaysian restaurateurs, and the Sabah Cultural Troupe from Sabah Tourism Board.

The festival also featured performances by Sekolah Seni Malaysia Sabah and contributions from the Malaysian diaspora.

Malaysian Ambassador to South Korea Datuk Mohd Zamruni Khalid officiated the event alongside guest of honour Gayeon Jung.

Jung serves as Deputy Director-General for ASEAN and Southeast Asian Affairs at South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The festival provided a vital platform for cultural exchange and strengthening bilateral ties between Malaysia and South Korea.

MSC delivers strong Q3 with higher revenue as tin prices, mining output rise

Malaysia Smelting Corporation Bhd (MSC) posted a stronger third quarter with revenue rising 12.7% year-on-year to RM529.5 million, supported by higher sales of refined tin, tin-bearing intermediates, and firmer tin prices. Net profit climbed 42.7% to RM20.4 million as improved mining output and better margins from intermediates helped offset smelting losses linked to trading and forex impacts. With tin demand underpinned by technology-driven sectors and supply remaining structurally tight, MSC said it is strengthening operations and advancing its transition to the more efficient Pulau Indah plant to support long-term competitiveness.
