Defence Minister Khaled Nordin says Malaysia’s role in the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition underscores its commitment to global security cooperation.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s participation in the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) demonstrates its commitment to active international cooperation against security threats.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin stated this includes addressing terrorism, extremism, and ideologies from non-state actors that undermine stability.
He expressed these views in a social media post during his working visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Khaled also shared details of his meeting with two Malaysian Armed Forces officers serving at the IMCTC headquarters.
The officers are Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Shah Othman and Analysis Officer Major Zainudin Abu Hasan.
“I would like to express my appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of these two MAF officers who have upheld Malaysia’s good name while contributing to collective efforts for regional and global security and stability,” he said.
His working visit to Saudi Arabia, which began last Saturday, included several key engagements.
He held bilateral talks with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud and attended the World Defence Show 2026.
The visit is also scheduled to culminate in the signing of a defence cooperation agreement between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
