The Kekar Malindo exercise between Malaysian and Indonesian armies concluded successfully, strengthening bilateral ties and military cooperation.
KUCHING: The Malaysian Army and Indonesian National Army have successfully concluded their bilateral Exercise Kekar Malindo Series 48AB/2025.
A total of 65 officers and 510 other ranks participated in the 10-day exercise that began on November 1.
The exercise involved the 13th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment representing Malaysia’s 3rd Brigade and Indonesia’s 641st Infantry Battalion representing the 19th Infantry Brigade.
Training was conducted under the Counter-Insurgency Warfare concept and concluded with a Final Assault in the Bayai area of Sri Aman.
“The exchange of knowledge, doctrines, as well as tactics, techniques and procedures in infantry operations was established between both parties throughout the exercise,” stated the Intelligence Staff of Headquarters 3rd Brigade.
The bilateral training successfully achieved its objectives of strengthening and enhancing cooperation between the two armies.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Commander of the TDM 1st Infantry Division, Major General Datuk Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz, and Inspector of the Military Regional Command 12/Tpr, Brig Gen TNI Agus Firman Yusmono.
Both leaders participated in a symbolic ceremony removing the Toha Exercise Participant badge.
The exercise aligns with the Fifth Pillar of the 30th Chief of Army’s Key Directives, emphasising Defence Diplomacy Shift through joint training with friendly nations. – Bernama
