Malaysian embassy in Tokyo issues travel caution for Japan

Malaysian travellers urged to exercise caution in Japan due to severe weather warnings for snowstorms and heavy snow across multiple regions.

TOKYO: The Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo has issued a travel advisory urging Malaysian travellers to exercise caution in Japan.

The warning follows severe weather alerts for snowstorms, heavy snow and ice accretion issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Affected regions include Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Koshin, Tokai, Hokuriku, Kinki, Chugoku (excluding Yamaguchi), Shikoku, northern Kyushu (including Yamaguchi), southern Kyushu and Amami.

“Travellers are advised to exercise caution when travelling in the affected region,” the embassy stated in a notice posted on its Facebook page.

For emergencies, Malaysian nationals can contact the embassy in Tokyo at +81-3-3476-3840 during office hours.

They can also reach the embassy via the 24-hour emergency line at +81-80-4322-3366.

Alternative contact methods include emailing consular@tyo@kln.gov.my or mwtokyo@kln.gov.my.
