A Malaysian corporate executive has died in a West Kalimantan helicopter crash, with authorities working to repatriate his remains.
PUTRAJAYA: A Malaysian corporate executive has been confirmed dead following a helicopter crash in Indonesia. The Foreign Ministry said authorities are working to repatriate his remains.
The victim was identified as Patrick Kee Chuan Peng, Chief Operating Officer of Kurnia Prima Nastari Plantations. He was in West Kalimantan on work-related matters at the time of the incident.
The helicopter, registered as PK-CFX, lost contact shortly after departing from Kabupaten Melawi. It was en route to Kabupaten Kubu Raya when the incident occurred.
The wreckage was later located in a remote forested area in Desa Tapang Tingang. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Indonesian authorities.
The Consulate of Malaysia in Pontianak is providing necessary consular assistance. It is coordinating with Indonesian authorities, the employer, and the family to facilitate repatriation.
The ministry extended its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
