The Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo advises Malaysians in Japan to stay cautious and monitor updates after a 5.8-magnitude earthquake off Chiba Prefecture.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo has advised Malaysians in Japan to remain vigilant and closely monitor local conditions following the magnitude 5.8 earthquake that struck off the northeastern coast of Chiba Prefecture this afternoon.
The embassy, in an earthquake advisory posted on its Facebook page, also advised Malaysians in Japan to refer to the website www.jma.go.jp/jma/indexe.html for the latest updates, warnings and advisories issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
“In the event of an emergency, please contact the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo office at +81-3-3476-3840 (office hours), the emergency hotline at +81-80-4322-3366 (after office hours), or email [email protected] or [email protected],” the advisory read.
According to the embassy, there is currently no tsunami threat associated with the earthquake.
