Selangor reinforces role as Malaysia’s aerospace hub at MyAERO Summit

Selangor reinforced its position as Malaysia’s aerospace hub at MyAERO Summit 2026, attracting over 200 global delegates to drive innovation and investment.

SELANGOR reinforced its position as Malaysia’s leading aerospace hub by bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, investors and global aerospace players at the Selangor Aerospace Forum, held in conjunction with the MyAERO Summit 2026 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

Organised by the National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (NAICO Malaysia) with support from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), the summit served as the country’s premier platform for aerospace and future mobility, facilitating collaboration among original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), regulators, solution providers and investors.

Invest Selangor Berhad spearheaded a comprehensive two-day programme on June 25 and 26, featuring an exclusive Aerospace Facilities Visit and the flagship Selangor Aerospace Forum to showcase the state’s advanced aerospace ecosystem and investment opportunities.

Held under the theme “Advancing Aerospace Value Chains Across the Region,” the forum explored strategies to strengthen Malaysia’s aerospace competitiveness while fostering greater regional cooperation across Asean.

As Malaysia’s centre for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), aerospace manufacturing and aviation services, Selangor leveraged the event to promote industry collaboration, knowledge exchange and high-value investments.

The programme began with an Aerospace Facilities Visit, offering invited delegates first-hand exposure to Selangor’s aerospace capabilities through two specialised tracks.

The Sepang track showcased Malaysia’s MRO strengths with visits to MAB Engineering Services (MABES), followed by a strategic briefing at Selangor Aero Park (SAP) highlighting the state’s long-term aerospace development plans and investment potential.

Meanwhile, delegates on the Subang track toured Impeccable Vintage Properties (IVP) Khazanah before visiting GE Aerospace and Base Maintenance Malaysia, demonstrating the state’s integrated aerospace ecosystem and world-class technical infrastructure.

The second day’s Selangor Aerospace Forum attracted industry professionals, senior executives and key decision-makers from across the aerospace value chain.

The forum opened with welcoming remarks by Invest Selangor Berhad chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris before being officially launched by Selangor executive councillor (Exco) for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.

One of the event’s highlights was a keynote presentation by Malaysia Aviation Group president and group chief executive officer Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar titled “Navigating Geopolitical Turbulence: How Our National Airline Adapts to Conflict-Driven Airspace Disruptions,” which examined how airlines are responding to evolving global geopolitical challenges.

The forum also featured a series of panel discussions covering infrastructure readiness, talent development, aerospace supply chain resilience, manufacturing, digitalisation and Malaysia’s ambition to strengthen its regional MRO leadership.

Industry leaders from organisations including NAICO Malaysia, Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated, UMW Aerospace, Base Maintenance Malaysia, Boeing Composites Malaysia, Zenix Aerospace UPECA, Dassault Systèmes, Sepang Aircraft Engineering, Skyways Technic, Asia Digital Engineering and NADI shared insights on strengthening Malaysia’s aerospace ecosystem and expanding its global competitiveness.

Following the networking session, discussions shifted towards future mobility with a presentation on China’s low-altitude economy by Wuhu Low Altitude Economy Conference organising committee executive director Hou Hongxuan.

A subsequent panel explored opportunities and regulatory challenges surrounding the low-altitude economy, featuring representatives from Futurise, TCabTech, the Wuhu Low Altitude Economy Conference, the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

The forum concluded with a session titled “Malaysia Aviation Forward: Connectivity, Growth and Industry Resilience,” presented by Batik Air Malaysia director of flight operations Captain Mohd Syafiq Zainal Azmir.

More than 200 delegates from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, China and France attended the Selangor Aerospace Forum @ MyAERO Summit 2026, reflecting growing international interest in Selangor’s expanding aerospace industry and reinforcing the state’s role as a regional gateway for aerospace investment, innovation and collaboration.
