Man shot while searching for petai in Kuala Pilah forest

A 47-year-old man was injured after being shot by an unknown assailant in a Kuala Pilah forest while looking for petai.

KUALA PILAH: A man was injured after allegedly being shot by an unidentified assailant in a forest near Kampung Maasop, Senaling.

Kuala Pilah district police chief Supt Muhammad Mustafah Hussin said the 47-year-old victim was alone searching for petai, or stink beans, when the incident occurred.

The victim managed to call his family for help after being shot and was taken to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah for treatment.

He sustained gun pellet wounds to his right rib and back but is reported to be in stable condition.

Muhammad Mustafah added that the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.

He urged anyone with information to contact the Kuala Pilah district police headquarters or the investigating officer to assist with the investigation.
