Deputy Minister Rubiah Wang says MARA aims to list three Bumiputera firms on Bursa Malaysia in 2026 under PuTERA35 economic transformation plan

KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) aims to have three Bumiputera companies listed on Bursa Malaysia next year according to Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang.

She stated this target aligns with the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 initiative which seeks to identify and strengthen high-potential Bumiputera companies for market expansion.

“We sealed it in PuTERA 35 where our target is also to increase the number of our entrepreneurs listed on Bursa Malaysia and that is included in the MARA Strategic Plan 2026-2030,” she said after officiating the MARA Automotive Ecosystem 2025 event.

Rubiah noted that Bateriku (M) Sdn Bhd is currently set to be listed on Bursa Malaysia demonstrating growing entrepreneurial capabilities in the local automotive sector.

She emphasized MARA will continue efforts to boost Bumiputera participation and leadership to produce more successful entrepreneurs.

The deputy minister announced the MATEC event will return for its third series next year following this year’s successful initiative.

“This will continue next year in an even grander form or theme and we encourage participation because we promote collaboration between non-Bumiputera and Bumiputera companies in organising MATEC,” she added.

Rubiah suggested future MATEC series might involve more non-Bumiputera companies alongside Bumiputera participants.

She stated MARA has proven Bumiputeras are not merely consumers but catalysts for transforming an industry worth 80 billion ringgit annually.

New investments like the BYD electric vehicle factory in Tanjung Malim and participation of over 2,000 Bumiputera automotive entrepreneurs show Malaysia is moving forward with confidence according to Rubiah.

MATEC 2025 with the theme “Charge the Hype” aimed to attract 104,100 visitors and feature 200 exhibition booths during its October 31 to November 2 run.

Six strategic Memoranda of Understanding and Memoranda of Agreement were signed between MARA and key industry partners including Volvo, Modenas, YTL Technologies, MArii, Mannol, and TalentCorp at MATEC 2025.

This year’s event shows significant growth from MATEC 2024 which recorded 26,550 visitors and 16.6 million ringgit in sales.

The 2025 edition targeted daily visitors of 25,710 on day one, 35,300 on day two, and 43,630 on day three for an overall target exceeding 104,100 visitors with potential sales transactions of 50 million ringgit. – Bernama
