Residents in Masjid Tanah snapped up 25,000 chickens at RM5 each in a special sale to ease Aidilfitri preparations and mark the Melaka CM’s third year in office
MASJID TANAH: A total of 25,000 fresh chickens were sold for RM5 each across the Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency today.
The initiative was held in conjunction with the celebration of three years of the administration of Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
It also aimed to help residents prepare for Aidilfitri and ease the cost of living, according to a statement from the Melaka Chief Minister’s Office.
The sale was held at the offices of the State Legislative Assembly Development and Coordination Committee (Japerun) for five state constituencies.
These were Tanjung Bidara, Ayer Limau, Taboh Naning, Kuala Linggi and Lendu.
Each constituency prepared 5,000 chickens for sale from 8 am to 12 noon.
To ensure fair distribution, each individual was limited to purchasing six chickens only.
The statement said the programme received an encouraging response from the public.
A Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme was also held at the Tanjung Bidara Japerun Office.
This gave people the opportunity to shop for various Aidilfitri items at cheaper prices.
In the statement, Ab Rauf said the initiative was not just a sale.
He described it as an ongoing effort to ensure the people were not burdened when preparing for Aidilfitri.
“The welfare of the people will continue to be the main focus of my administration,” he said.
This focus is in line with the Melaka Sayang Rakyat (MeSRa) concept which emphasises caring for the people.
He added such efforts would continue to be strengthened to ensure more Melaka residents feel the benefits.
Other state constituencies also offered chicken and meat at Rahmah prices in conjunction with the sales programme.
These areas were Pengkalan Batu, Paya Rumput, Telok Mas, Asahan and Pantai Kundor.
