Melaka implements strategic digital initiatives including big data plans and QR-coded villages to support data-driven development and policy-making.
MELAKA: The state is advancing Malaysia’s national data vision through strategic digital initiatives designed to strengthen policy-making and drive innovation.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said data in Melaka is transformed into actionable insights that help craft smarter policies for sustainable growth.
“Guided by this vision, the Melaka state government has embarked on several strategic initiatives to strengthen the state’s digital ecosystem,” he said at the ASEAN-Malaysia Statistics Week 2025 Networking Dinner.
These initiatives include the Melaka Big Data Development Plan 2035, the Smart Melaka Blueprint 2035 and the Melaka Digital Command Centre.
He said these reflect Melaka’s strong commitment to leveraging data for sustainable development while aligning with national priorities and Sustainable Development Goals.
Ab Rauf also highlighted the Kampung Digital project which made Melaka the first state to assign formal QR-coded addresses to 618 traditional villages.
“This initiative allows us to collect and organise accurate data at the village level,” he explained.
The data provides essential insights for planning, emergency response and delivery of public services.
“Melaka remains committed to being part of ASEAN’s collective journey towards a data-driven and resilient future,” he added.
The event was held in conjunction with the 15th Session of the ASEAN Community Statistical System Committee.
