A mild 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Segamat, Johor, with tremors felt in the area. MetMalaysia is monitoring the situation.
SEGAMAT: A minor earthquake measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale struck Jementah, Segamat, Johor, at 7.55 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) confirmed the quake’s epicentre was located at latitude 2.5° North and longitude 102.8° East.
It was centred about three kilometres west of Segamat at a depth of 10 kilometres.
“Tremors were also felt in Segamat and nearby areas,” MetMalaysia said in a Facebook post.
The department stated it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates through its official portal and social media platforms. – Bernama
