Over 7,000 people attended the state-level Deepavali open house in Seremban, graced by Negeri Sembilan’s royal couple, celebrating multiracial unity.
SEREMBAN: The Deepavali spirit shone brightly as over 7,000 visitors from various communities attended the state-level open house at Taman Seremban Jaya Community Hall.
The celebration was graced by the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, and the Tunku Ampuan Besar, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun welcomed Their Royal Highnesses and expressed appreciation for the strong turnout.
“The lively atmosphere and strong multiracial turnout reflect the harmony that continues to thrive in Negeri Sembilan,” he told reporters.
Aminuddin said the state government remains committed to supporting the Indian community through various assistance and inclusive development programmes.
More than 20 dishes were served including chapati, roti canai, mutton curry, puri, satay and nasi beriani.
Guests were entertained with dance and singing performances by local artists throughout the event.
Aminuddin also distributed festive cash packets to children attending the celebration.
Seremban Jaya assemblyman P. Gunasekaran said participation from Sabah and Sarawak residents added uniqueness to this year’s event.
“There are Iban and Kadazan groups who have lived here for over 20 years and formed their own communities,” he said.
Gunasekaran noted their participation highlighted the unity and strong community spirit among the people. – Bernama
